Ice Cream Social Reception: Saturday, July 15, 4-6 pm
Installation artist AMY ARCHAMBAULT will speak about her art and creative process on Wednesday June 28, 7:30 pm, at the ALL Gallery, 307 Market Street in Lowell. Archambault creates complex and exquisitely crafted constructions in space that address the theme of structured play in all its ramifications. The large-scale constructions draw on the material and visual language of athletic culture, childhood play and the world pf home improvement. For Archambault, play is not just a
frivolous pastime or recreational
pleasure, but an essential tool for
the optimization of the self.
Amy Archambault earned a BA in studio art and psychology from the College of the Holy Cross, and an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
In 2013 she received the Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellowship Grant for
Sculpture/Installation. She was named Artist in Residence at the Boston Center for the Arts in 2015, and in the same year she created an installation on Georges Island for the Isles Arts Initiative. Her work has been shown at the Mill Gallery in Hartford (solo show), at the 17 Cox Art Center in Beverly, at GRIN Contemporary Art Gallery, Providence, and at the Cantor Gallery at the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester. Archambault is a member of the Boston
Sculptors Gallery in Boston where she had a solo show in 2016. Her most recent work "Hideout", is currently installed at the Boston Children's Museum
(through June 18).
