NEWS FROM THE BOARD

The ALL gallery is in the swing of the New Year 2018, with it's newest show entitled "Naked", sponsored by Martha Mayo. The title says it all. The January 20 reception at the gallery was well attended. Show closes Sunday, Feb. 11.

ALL is pleased to sponsor a venue for UML art students to curate and display their artwork in "BURNING MINDS", beginning February 14. City wide reception is Sat. Feb. 24 (4-6pm).

We encourage new and present members to join one of our committees. Please contact the individual committee chairs by email. [see side bar]

Benefits of membership include yearly members only shows, reduced entry fees, and discounted commission on art sold of 25% (non-members pay 40% in open shows). It's easy to join online. COMMITTEE NEWS

Marshall Moyer is now chairing the newly formed 2018 First Thursday Committee. First Thursdays is a collaborative downtown gallery effort to encourage people to walk from venue-to-venue each First Thursday from May through September to sample the arts, food and drinks from 5 pm to 9 pm. Mary Hart and Martha Mayo, together with Marshall, will represent ALL. At present, participating galleries include ALL, The Whistler House, The Brush, Gallery Z, UnchARTed, Ayer Lofts, LTC and Arts Research Collaborative, with plans to include additional museums and small businesses along Market Street in downtown Lowell. Stay tuned for planned summer events and themes.

The Gallery Committee has finalized the show/exhibit calendar for 2018. Postcards outlining the show calendar have been distributed by the Marketing Committee to outlying towns and Greater Boston. They are also available at the Gallery reception desk and show calendar online at the ALL website. Please check website at www.artsleagueoflowell.org/gallery/future

MEMBER NEWS

William C Turner is having a solo exhibit entitled, "Timeless", at Remarkable Gallery, 5 Main St., Peterborough, NH from Jan. 12 to Feb. 11. Public reception was Thursday, Jan. 25 (4-7pm).

Jean Winslow, Mitchel K Ahern, Barbara Gagel, Susan Jaworski-Stranc and Lindsey Parker will exhibit their printmaker artwork at the Brush Gallery in the exhibit entitled, "A Picture Is Worth 1.5 Words". Show runs from Jan. 6 to Feb. 17. Reception was Jan. 28.

Elaine Seidel Photography's exhibit, "Kaleidoscope" at the Parish Center for the Arts Westford, MA, Feb.4 to Mar.11.

View Coleman Rogers' photography at the Copley Society of Art show, "Journeys: A Small Works Show" on now until April 12.

ALL members will be participating in Lowell Celebrates Kerouac's Marathon Readings from Jack Kerouac's novel, On the Road, at Lowell's Pollard Memorial Library on Saturday, Mar. 10.

Diana Zipeto has a solo art show exhibiting her Kirigami paintings entitled, "In the Folds", from Feb. 28 to Mar. 25, at the Firehouse Center for the Arts, 1 Market Square, Newburyport, MA, open Wed to Sun, 12-5pm.

Kim Scott has a solo sculpture show entitled, "SHE: Ancient Vessel, Ancient Wisdom", from May 9 to June 10, at the Cotuit Center for the Arts, Cotuit, MA. Reception is May 12 (5-7pm).

Meredith Fife Day, in conjunction with her show in the Greenwald Gallery, will have a simultaneous exhibition at Arts Research Collaborative in Lowell, from May 9 to June 3.

Margaret Femia will be the featured artist during the month of May at the Image Gallery, downstairs at the Nashua Public Library during regular Library hours, located at 2 Court St., Nashua, NH.

Debbie Auclair will be exhibiting her abstract art at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, as part of Art Reach New England, from January to June, along with 5 other artists.
