| I have been creating mandalas and spiritually-realized drawings for years. The inspiration for the artwork sprang initially from my love of astrology. Astrology uses circles and cycles to represent the changing universe. As the planets drift through the cosmos; as the seasons change; as the days come and go; the universe evolves and expands in a timeless swirl of circular motion. As above, so below. The very essence of the circle is at the core of our DNA and the patterns of nature, time, and space.
The drawings evolve from the subconscious and are created in a stream of consciousness involving concentration and meditation. All designs, patterns, and symbols are original and one of a kind. The swirl of color, textures, and spiritual symbolism are all part of the process. Although these are not typical mandalas, they evolve from the same spiritual center and are offered to the universe for the collective good of all.
I was formerly the co-host, along with Jeanne (Jade) D'Amico of two nationally-syndicated radio talk shows; "Colors of Love America" and "Love Talk USA", both of which focused on alternative methods for facing the challenges of life, love, and living. Incorporating astrology, numerology, Feng Shui, Chinese Medicine, meditation, hypnosis, Eastern philosophy, and humor, the shows provided a lively forum for exploring non-traditional methods for coping.
I was involved in a bizarre "social experiment" through FOX television and a reality TV show called "Trading Spouses." I swapped my wife (at the time) with a woman from Bible-belt Louisiana. The resulting TV show produced the highest rated reality show to date as the woman melted down on national television! Perhaps you saw her screaming about the dark side?
I am also an avid writer and I have written for numerous music publications over the years. I am a published poet and I have an on-going astrology practice. Currently, I am enrolled at the Boston Architecture College pursuing a degree in architecture. My future plans for the artwork are taking shape in the form of clothing, greeting cards, banners, and any other form that will carry the symbols to a wider audience. |

I have been drawn to the mandala as a form of expression for years. The round medium serves as a metaphor for the cycles we work through in our daily lives. The inspiration for my artwork springs initially from my love of astrology. Astrology uses circles and cycles to represent the changing universe.
The circle appeals to me on a number of different levels. Whether it is the highs and lows of daily life or the cycles of time and place, in each case the circular form implies a beginning that is at one with the end. The mandala appears in all aspects of life: the celestial circles we call planets as well as conceptual circles of friends, family, and community.
Within the Milky Way galaxy is our solar system and within our solar system, is the Earth. Each is a mandala that is part of a larger mandala; a circle within a circle. The petals of a flower; the rings found in tree trunks; and the spiraling design of a snail's shell all reflect the primal mandala pattern. Wherever a center is found radiating outward or inward, there is wholeness...a mandala.
My art is a boundless container that supports equality. There are no corners and much like the mythological King Arthur and his round table, the circle and my art promotes oneness, equality, and a singular focus.
I enjoy mixing cross-cultural themes and symbols in my art in an effort to express the possibility of oneness. If these symbols can exist side by side in a circular container, it introduces the possibility of peaceful co-existence between all religions, political beliefs, or spiritual dogmas. One world, one people. No borders, no boundaries. |
